JessaLu is a mashup of my first and middle names – my maternal grandmother called me JessaLu and also taught me to sew, using my nickname in my business name is a nod to her <3 All hand-sewn items are sewn by me (otherwise it wouldn’t be ‘Stitched by JessaLu’ 😉 ) on an industrial Singer that was manufactured in 1932 or a Model 15-91 Singer sewing machine that was manufactured in 1937 in a smoke-less and cat-less home (but not dog-less, though she’s little and isn’t allowed in the sewing room). I have a helper that works one day a week doing ironing and bag prep – and sometimes during show season my husband (aka ‘Boothbait’) rolls up his sleeves and gets to work cutting fabric and interfacing. When you purchase from SbJL, you are supporting my family directly, and we appreciate it very much! You can see pictures of my sewing machine here. My machine isn’t fancy, it doesn’t have the ability to do a lockstitch edge but she’s a workhorse and I love her. She does the job while my fancy new Singer sits in the closet, not working. Box Bag dimensions: Regular: 7.5″ long, 3.5″ high, 4.5″ wide – large enough to hold a sock project or a spindle. Handles are long enough to fit over your wrist. Large: 12″ long, 4″ high and 6″ wide – just the right size to hold a larger project Wedge Bag dimensions: Regular Wedge: 11″ wide, 6″ tall and 3″ wide at the bottom. The perfect size for socks in progress or a similarly sized project. Tall Wedge: 11″ wide, 10″ tall and 4″ wide at the bottom. This size allows for you to fold open the top of your bag while you’re working on your project, and is a bit more roomy for a shawl, hat, heavy socks or larger accessories. Large Wedge: 15″ wide, 10″ tall and 4″ wide at the bottom. This size will easily fit a sweater-in progress or (very) large shawl Gigantic (TWSS) Wedge: Approximately 19″ long, 14″ high and 5″ wide at the bottom. This size is perfect to tote an afghan in progress, the biggest of big sweaters, most of what you’d stash under your kitchen sink, or an average sized toddler (not kidding, it really is that big!). Get ready to say ‘Whoa, that’s …big.’ when you open your package! LONG Wedge Dimensions: 15″ wide, 7″ tall and 4″ wide at the bottom. This size will easily fit a smaller sweater, a two-color hat/mitten/scarf project or large shawl. Bucket Bag dimensions: SbJL is home of the ORIGINAL bucket bag! Often imitated but never duplicated. ;o) Regular: 7″ tall, 4.5″ wide and 3.5″ deep Spindle Bag dimensions: One Size: 12.5″ long, 3.5″ wide, 3.5″ tall Yes, you sure can wash your SbJL bag! I prewash, tumble dry and iron every piece of fabric that comes in to SbJL so it has been preshrunk prior to making a bag out of it and sending it out to you so there is no fear of weird and wonky shrinkage when it’s time for it to have a bath. To wash your bag, please remove the zipper pull (if you can’t get it to come off, that’s okay, but it might beat up the crystals a bit), then wash it on the delicate setting (if you have one) with cold water, using a washing solution that does not have sulfates (no Tide or anything with ‘brighteners’) at-casinos.com. Once it’s nice and clean, take it out of the washer, re-form it into it’s original shape and let it air dry. You can dry it in the dryer on low, but it won’t retain it’s crisp ‘like new’ look once it’s been tumble dried. When the shop is open, I do small updates almost daily. I do large shop updates with the SciFi prints about every 2 weeks. If you want a heads up on larger shop updates, please sign up for the mailing list (link in sidebar), ‘like’ my page on Facebook and/or follow me on Twitter! You can also follow me on Instagram if you’d like to see my other crafty pursuits and some fabric sneak peeks. :o) Well, specific details are a secret that I keep to myself. If I told everyone where I shop, there wouldn’t be any left for me to make awesome bags for you! 😉 I will say that with some of my geek prints, I work with a graphic designer to create one of a kind prints that are only available at SbJL. I also have branched out and created a few prints on my own (for example, the Tolkien prints are my own layout) Otherwise, I spend entirely too much time shopping for fabric, looking for new prints to add to the shop. 😉 I am MORE THAN HAPPY to do custom orders! If you see two fabrics on two different bags in the shop that you think will make a lovely bag for yourself or if you have a general color/print idea kicking around and would like to design your own SbJL bag please don’t hesitate to contact me! (please note that custom requests are for fabric only – I cannot take requests for custom bag designs at this time and if I do not have the fabric in stock this will add significantly to the delivery estimate). If there is a specific print you are looking for, please contact me! If you see a print in the shop that you’d like in a bucket, spindle, or large bag, let me know and I’ll see what I can do! (if you have posted a review of my bags, please let me know! I love to hear what my customers think of their purchases!) My bags have several possible uses, including: If you have a new idea for how to use your SbJL bag, let me know! :o) I am going to say yes, but only because I have had some customers with issues tracking their orders. I have turned on Single Sign on with WordPress – you do not have to use a WordPress login to have a SbJL login, but if you want to keep your shipping address on file, and track your orders, you should create a login (I do NOT know your password, nor do I use your info for any marketing unless you opt in) THIS DOES NOT WORK RETROACTIVELY. If you do not set up your account prior to ordering, it will not pull your previous orders into your account so please plan accordingly. If you have a question about where your bag is, please check if your order is within the shipping window and if you have received a shipping notice. If you are and you have not, trust that your bag WILL GO OUT within this window, and you WILL receive an email with tracking information. Thank you for your patience! If you have a question about shipping times, please check my shop policies. Thank you! About Me
